This townhouse refurbishment in the west end of Glasgow included a small new build extension however the project did more by ‘taking away’.

The small rooms such as pantry and coal shed to the rear of this building type have been opened up and their heavy sandstone walls suspended by new structure.

A minimal envelope of plywood and privacy glass now encloses the garden room and a green sedum roof has been planted which is currently maturing. New internal walls are lined with brickwork and plywood which form a muted material palette along with the exposed sandstone and stone floor tiles.
